Executive Director

Cheryl Coleman was born in Indianapolis and spent 22 years in Oklahoma before making the move to Florida in November 2020. She is the proud mother of her daughter, Andrea, and grandmother to five-year-old Journie.

​

Cheryl has spent nearly 28 years working in libraries in various roles. Her library journey began with a high school job and continued through college work-study and positions at two college libraries. She later spent 16 years as a librarian in Oklahoma City before becoming a library assistant in Florida.

​

Outside of the library, Cheryl enjoys music and creativity. She plays the flute and percussion and has written several songs. She also enjoys creating YouTube videos, including flute performances and a documentary based on her book, Before the Land Run: The Historic All-Black Towns of Oklahoma. The documentary has received more than 8,000 views.
